What are the specific requirements relating to Supplier Diversity?

Commitment:
Whirlpool is committed to establishing and maintaining a capable, qualified, competitive and diverse corporate supply base by providing minority-owned, women-owned, disadvantaged and small businesses the opportunity to compete and participate on an equal basis, as partners and suppliers of goods and services.

Supplier Registration Process:
Whirlpool maintains an internal database, which is used as a reference tool to identify suppliers for potential procurement opportunities. As a first step in doing business with Whirlpool, all suppliers are encouraged to complete the Online Supplier Registration Form, including information on all applicable certifications for minority-owned and women-owned (diverse) businesses.

Certification:
Whirlpool recognizes certification of minority-owned and women-owned (diverse) businesses from the following organizations:

U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)

• Small Disadvantaged and Section 8(a) Businesses

National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) or any regional council

• Minority-owned Businesses

Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) or any of it's partner organizations

• Women-owned Businesses

Any issuing city or state agency

Definition:
Whirlpool defines - 

• A minority-owned business as a company that is at least 51 percent owned, managed and controlled by one or more minority persons who are U.S. citizens. In this context, a minority person is an African American, Hispanic American, Native American or Asian American.
• A women-owned business as a company that is at least 51 percent owned, managed and controlled by one or more women who are U.S. citizens.
